2) Consider model filtering to completely remove through traffic in the Highbury area (between Blackstock Rd & Holloway Rd) forcing traffic to utilise surrounding Principal Road Network & Transport for London Road Network. (Long term)
Residents, officers and councillors are moving towards filtering Gillespie Rd, Highbury. Very slowly.
There was a lot of anger at the first meeting 12 months ago, less so at this second Highbury West Ward Partnership special meeting for Gillespie Road.
There isn’t, as yet, complete consensus amongst residents about what they want. And officers weren’t particularly forthcoming about the options. The Mayor’s transport strategy or funding streams via Liveable Neighbourhoods got a passing mention. But officers have been asked to report back on options. Cllr Andy Hull did say after the meeting that he’d support what residents wanted to do but he wasn’t sure what that was.
