After many years on the CI committee John Ackers stood down to concentrate on next year’s local elections. We are really grateful for everything he has done whilst being on the committee.
We were delighted to welcome two speakers. Laura from the Zero Emissions network, a joint initiative with the boroughs of Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets, who told us about the ZEN and its objectives – including their encouragement of using cargo bikes. Did you know that one cargo bike can carry 100 bottles of champagne ?! More information fromwww.zeroemissionsnetwork.com
Alix of Carryme Bikes presented how they lent cargo bikes, seats and trailers to park rangers, market traders, meals on wheels teams and anyone who wanted to try out some new kit.

Many thanks to them both for coming along and for spreading the word about just how versatile cargo bikes are.
This year we pleased to welcome Laura Perry from the local Zero Emissions Network (see www.zeroemissionsnetwork.com) as our speaker.
The City Fringe ZEN is a joint initiative between the London boroughs of Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets designed to improve air quality and business efficiency within the ‘ZEN’ target area. In Islington this is the area covered by Bunhill Ward and its borders with Clerkenwell and The Angel. ZEN members are local businesses working together to make the area a better place to visit, work and do business, by improving local air quality, supporting active travel whilst reducing; energy and transport costs.
The meeting will be at the Town Hall, Upper Street N1 2UD, starting at 7.30pm with the co-ordinator and treasurer’s reports and elections of officers. Laura will join us at 8.30pm, refreshments will be served and the meeting will end at 9.30pm.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14, starting at 7.30pm at Islington Town Hall, London N1 2UD.
Our guest speaker will be Bruce McVean. He is the founder of the Movement for Liveable London. His subject will be – Towards a healthier and happier city; why London’s transport system needs to change.
There’s a lot of talk about making London more liveable, but what does this really mean? Bruce’s talk will consider how the way people and goods travel around the city must change if we’re to ensure a healthy and happy future for London and Londoners.
Dr Robert Davis, chair of the Road DangerReduction Forum, treated us to an account of Road Safety in the UK, asking us to reconsider what this is and the way that statistics can be used to validate a view that may not be helpful. Over 30 people enjoyed the talk and there was no food or drink left over!
