Minutes of Islington Cyclists' Action Group meeting on 12th June 2013 Present Susie Fogg, Stephen Taylor, Chris Ashby, Liz Reiner, John Ackers, Adrian Williams, Jonathan Edwards, Paul Standeven, Anya Beinroth and Keith Macfarlane Apologies Alison Dines, Robert Harston, Deborah Maby, James Gledhow, Chris Kenyon Matters arising from minutes of 10th April David Shannon is still looking for volunteers for the Islington Cyclists Club Thanks to Alison for updating the notes on the cycle ride in the south of the borough for the issues list. Agenda 1) Cycle Hoops: An ICAG member had written to the Tribune and the Gazette claiming council money had been misspent by putting Cyclehoops on sign posts (which D locks can get round) rather than lamp posts; he'd also written to Anthony Lau (director of Cyclehoops) and copied in journalists. This had caused concern and John Ackers thought that the first thing to do was to write to Council officers rather than go to the media first. Also, instead of the ICAG e-group, the ICAG-eng e-group (used for engineering issues) should have been used for the e-mail exchange. There was a discussion to be had about the moderation of the ICAG e-group. Action Alison to talk to member about discussing issues on ICAG-eng and approaching Islington officers before going to the media. A vote was taken; 5 for, 2 against and one abstention. 2) Bike week events Finsbury Park Festival John will use Facebook and Twitter to get more volunteers. We assumed that Alison had organised information for the stall. Action Keith to forward festival email from Anna at LCC to Suzy Cycle parking survey: to have large map at stalls. We need to get a large map and collect this info. Susie will collate information on the first 50 suggested sites and Keith subsequent ones. We need to sort the data we have to TfL and LBI ward based. Anya volunteered to do this. We need to have another ride in the north of the borough with the dates to be confirmed at the next meeting. Bike Breakfast We need to check that Alison has booked Dr bike for the breakfast. Action Stephen Other There was a request from Susie to have a school ride for next year. 3) Highbury Roundabout Parking There was a suggestion that we do our own petition. We need to emphasise a financial and engineering analysis. We agreed to contact Terry Stacey and saying wary about supporting politically. Action Chris 4) Nag's Head Gyratory meeting Very much in favour that some action is taken; we should put something on the website to encourage conversation. Action Keith to précis Deb's piece. 5) Archway Neighbourhood Forum Liz agreed to report back and happy to be link person at consultative workshops. Liz will let us know about transport issues. CAG gives it support and looks forward to being involved. 6) Air Quality Consultation It was suggested that we add to the Living Streets response. Action John Ackers (who will talk to Caroline) AOB Adrian showed us some bike stands that Jonathan has been storing. Adrian will keep one, Paul and Stephen will take one each. Then maybe somebody in Hackney could use them - Jonathan will deliver.
