What not to like – free cycle training!

Did you know that Islington Council offers a wide range of cycle training? It’s really good news that – FREE – Bikeability  courses and cycle skills sessions are available to all residents, employees and students.  With so many boroughs not being able to fund cycle training, we are lucky to have this on our doorstep and we heartily recommend that you take advantage of what’s on offer! For families, adults, various levels – all there to choose from and available during the school holidays.

Bikeability is the Government-recognised National Standard for cycle safety, aiming to improve cycle skills for all. The council’s cycle training is delivered by qualified instructors and there are a range of courses on offer to suit all ages and abilities.  Further information available on this Islington Council website.

Also on the Islington Council website there’s information about bike hire, bike shops, maps using safe cycle routes, cycling tips and details of how NHS workers can get free access to TfL’s Santander bikes.  The council are keen to support our Cycle Buddies scheme where we match new or returning cyclists with more experienced riders to help support them back onto two wheels – see our Cycle Buddies page for more information.

Get some basic cycling skills on a council course and then sign up with one of Cycle Buddies to develop your confidence and find some safe local routes – make 2022 the year you get yourself and your family on two wheels!
