The speaker at our July Cycle Islington meeting was Will McMahon of the CCJS (the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies) who talked about the Holloway Prison site redevelopment project. The CCJS ran a survey seeking the views of local residents and anyone who cycles, works, studies or shops in the area. Camden Road/Parkhurst Road junction sits right by the prison site and any redevelopment might be an opportunity to re-engineer that space so it’s less of a motorway and more of an inviting space for everyone.
On Saturday, 30 September from 1pm-4pm at St George’s Church on Crayford Road, N7, the findings from the survey will be shared. For more details see Holloway Community Open Day leaflet or CCJS site : https://plan4holloway.org/. Cycle Islington, along with other community groups, will be there so come along, find out more about the plans, and say hello.
Alison managed to get a word with Jeremy Corbyn at the event and this resulted in an invitation to meet him to discuss cycling in London, along with David Harrison of Living Streets.
