Islington tops Healthy Streets Scorecard – again !

Congratulations to Islington Council for coming first – again – in the recently published Healthy Streets Score card.  The photo shows our Transport and Environment lead, Rowena Champion, receiving the award from Alice Roberts, Head of Green Space Campaigns at CPRE London.
The report is the work of a coalition of groups, including LCC,  who rate London’s boroughs on 6 key areas:
1. Borough-wide Low Traffic Neighbourhoods
2. A default 20mph speed limit on all borough and Transport for London controlled roads
3. Small-area Controlled Parking Zones borough-wide
4. Protected cycle lanes on main roads
5. Traffic-free streets around all schools and safe walking and cycling routes to school
6. Bus priority on all routes 24/7Islington tops the scorecard along with Hackney and City
So we’re doing well but would love to see Liveable Neighbourhoods rolled out faster and wouldn’t it be super to have more protected cycle lanes on main roads ?  Onwards !
