Our first Women’s ride on 7 June

We had seven women on our first women’s ride on 7 June, setting off from a new location at the Ecology Centre.  The manager there, Elena, is very supportive and will be helping us host future rides; we appreciate her help and enthusiasm.

The idea is that we will hold monthly rides from the Ecology Centre for women with their own bikes who want to increase their confidence and ride with a group.  The coffee and chat stop was a great opportunity to promote other rides and to encourage women to get on their bikes.  In particular, the next Women’s Freedom Ride on 5 July and the feeder ride we are organising.

The next local ride will be on 12 July starting at 1000 from the Ecology Centre and we are hoping in future to have some rides from the council’s bike depot in the Andover Estate where women can borrow bikes.

If you are interesting in helping by leading and/or marshalling these rides, please get in touch with us !

The coconut icecream at the cafe in Stoke Newington was a particular hit, as was our 50th anniversary merch as modelled by Julia and Gonul.
