Our AGM, quiz and raffle will be held on Wednesday 11 June from 1900 onwards in Hocking Hall at the Whittingdon Park Community Centre.
We are delighted that Tom Fyans, LCC’s CEO, will be with us for a Q&A session which will be chaired by journalist Birgit Maass, the UK correspondent for Deutsche Welle and a volunteer ride leader for Joy Riders. This is a great opportunity to ask Tom about his first 18 months as CEO so come prepared with your own questions for him – about LCC’s strategy, his views on the current political climate and how it affects active travel, thoughts on the local elections in 2026 ?
A tradition at our AGMs has been a supply of samosas and this year is no exception along with other snacks and a pay bar.
The formal part of the evening, the AGM, will have a review of past year, elections to the Cycle Islington Committee, financial report and any changes to our constitution. Only LCC members may vote at the AGM. If you would like to stand for election, please see here. but note that the process closes at midnight on 28 May 2025.
If you have fun donations for the raffle (experiences, quirky opportunities welcome) please let us know. We already have some great prizes; an hour’s ukelele lesson, an outdoor yoga session with Jeanie, some of John’s home-made preserves, a walk round Finsbury Park with a local tree expert, Steve’s cheesecake made to order, an hour’s guitar tuition, Eilidh’s signature chocolate cake, a private tour of the V&A and, somewhat to be expected, quite a lot of bike-related parts.
There is no charge to attend the AGM, but there will be a small charge to enter the quiz – it is a fund raiser as well as a very entertaining evening !
Please note that our previously announced speaker, Laura Laker, will be in Gdansk at Velo City on 11 June and we can’t compete with that ! However, we hope to welcome Laura at a future event and look forward to hearing about Velo City. Wouldn’t it be super if London could host this massive cycling event in 2029 ? Just saying ……
