26 April – Joy Riders Bluebell ride round Stevenage
10 May – Camden Cyclists family ride Archway to Parliament Hill
18 May – Islington Schools Fun Run outreach event at Kings Cross
25 May – Festival of Cycling at Highbury Fields – blogpost up by mid April with more details of morning family ride, afternoon ride with Camden Cyclists to Markfield Park to see the steam engine blow its top at 1430
18 June – Summer Solstice ride.  Details to be confirmed but we propose to cycle down to Richmond to meet other local borough groups and watch the sun go down on (nearly) the longest day
29 June – Camden Cyclists family ride Archway to Parliament Hill
6 July – Islington Schools Fun Run outreach event at Highbury Fields
6 JulyLondon to Southend – not a race, contrary to the video on the site, but a day-long ride which is a good training ride for Dunwich !
12 JulyDunwich Dynamo – overnight ride from London Fields, again not a race.  Southwark Cyclists will shortly announce logistics for transport home

25 March 1800 – 2000  Indiebeer, 322 Holloway Road:  Discuss the business case for cargo bikes and to hear the results of the initial CargoShift Islington programme. Hear about the potential for businesses to switch to cargo bikes for deliveries and services, and the benefits to be gained. Sustrans will present their recent findings from providing free cargo bike advice and support to businesses in Holloway Road and will share ideas on how businesses can increase their use of sustainable transport. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided and there will be a pay bar for anyone who wants to network afterwards (RSVP to Mohammed.Ayyaz@islington.gov.uk)
29 March – outreach at Finsbury Park’s Park Run – from 0830 onwards
26 April – Joy Riders Bluebell ride round Stevenage
28 April – Cycle Sisters ride from Hackney Downs Park at Calma Coffee;  meet 0945.

Previous rides and events
  • Saturday 25 January;  celebrate Burns Night with our sister group in Hackney.  Sign up for dinner,a dram and dancing.  Meet lots of familiar faces and have a fun evening.  https://hackneycycling.org.uk/news/burns-night-2025/
  • Thursday 6 February; feeder ride to the LCC Women’s Network After Dark ride which is now full although there is a waiting list.  If you have a place on the formal ride, please join us at the Town Hall at 1700 and we will cycle to the start together.  This ride coincides with the publication of the Network’s latest report, this time on how safe TfL’s designated Cycle routes are at night – spoiler; they’re not.
  • Saturday 15 February;  celebrate Valentine’s Day by cycling to Valentine’s Park;  20 mile round trip with coffee and lunch stops.  Sign up here.
  • Saturday 5 April:   LCC Campaigners’ summit at Westminster University on Marylebone Road.View the Summit blog with all event info
  • Sunday 25 May London Festival of Cycling;  LCC’s proposal for a 2025 alternative to the cancelled RideLondon FreeCycle.  LCC have had initial conversations with 8 councils, including Islington, and we are very keen to work with the council on some fun family events and rides in the borough.
  • Wednesday 11 June:  Cycle Islington’s AGM, raffle and quiz !  More details over the next month or so but make a diary note now.
  • Friday 20 June tbc:  summer solstice ride to Richmond Park to watch the sun go down
